Introducing the new chart builder: advanced editing, or just ask Lu

Riley Geddes

All of our customers have a unique way of showing data to LPs and their investment committee. They care about how each chart looks and what every number is measured against, like budget or the prior year.

Before this update, the final mile of details took the longest. Now you can ask Lu for a chart and edit the details yourself. The chart stays connected and auditable to your data - updating with new time periods or restatements.

A unified chart builder

Line, bar, pie and dynamic charts used to be four separate widgets, and now they all live in one builder.

Advanced editing

Charts start with Lumonic's default settings and are customizable to your firm's preferences. Real customer asks we support:

  • Actuals against the sponsor case and your own case, year by year

  • Budget that picks up where actuals end, as a dashed line

  • Leverage against the covenant limit, so the headroom shows without doing the math

  • Working capital stacked in your firm's colors

The same builder works in reports, so a chart you build once shows up for every company in the PDF export. On a company dashboard, click any point to trace it back to its source.

Or just ask Lu

Describe the chart in plain English, like "Total leverage vs. underwriting case for our 10 most levered borrowers," and Lu builds it from your data.

Lu works inside the builder and fills in its settings for you. After each request, it lists what it changed. Undo any change, or click one to jump straight to that setting and adjust it yourself.

Live today

The new chart builder is live for every Lumonic customer, with nothing to set up. Pre-existing charts remain as is and you have the option to try out the new builder the first time you edit.

What's next

Soon you can ask Lu to rebuild your portfolio monitoring report (PMR) or quarterly portfolio review (QPR) as a dashboard. Share a screenshot or spreadsheet, and watch Lu build every widget in the dashboard.
